UTMB and Galveston Chamber Launch EmpowerYOU Women’s Health Series with Focus on Men’s Wellness
The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and UTMB Health are partnering to present the EmpowerYOU: Mind + Body + Spirit Women’s Health Education Series, a new initiative designed to provide women with practical health information, expert guidance, and real-world strategies leading up to the 19th Annual Galveston Island Women’s Conference this September.
The first luncheon in the series, “EmpowerHIM: Caring for the Men in Our Lives,” will take place on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Open Gates, 2419 Sealy Street in Galveston. The presentation will begin at noon and admission is free courtesy of UTMB Health.
Presented by Dr. Jamaal Jackson, the session will focus on the important role women often play as health advocates for their families and loved ones. The discussion will provide practical insights into understanding and supporting the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of the men in their lives.
Topics will include why men frequently delay seeking medical care, common health risks affecting men, strategies for supporting emotional and mental wellness, and effective ways to encourage preventive healthcare and treatment.
The event is designed for wives, partners, mothers, sisters, friends, and anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of men’s health and wellness.
Organizers say the EmpowerYOU series aims to create a welcoming environment where women can learn, ask questions, and feel empowered in their health journeys—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Each session will feature expert insight and actionable tools participants can apply in everyday life.
The series will continue on August 4 with “Weight Loss & Metabolic Health,” presented by Dr. Sarah Samreen, focusing on hormones, metabolism, and sustainable health strategies for women navigating midlife changes.
