The City of Galveston is excited to announce the return of its annual summer youth program, beginning Monday, June 2, at the Wright Cuney Recreation Center.

Open to all Galveston residents with children aged 5 to 17, the program offers a full summer of fun, learning, and enrichment— free of charge. Registration is available in person at the Wright Cuney Recreation Center, 718 41st Street. Parents or guardians must provide a photo ID and proof of residency at the time of registration.

Throughout the summer, the City enhances staffing at Wright Cuney and offers a variety of engaging activities designed to support youth development and provide a safe, supervised environment. These programs include volleyball, badminton, pickleball, tennis, dance and arts and crafts.

“The City of Galveston is one of the few cities in Texas offering a free summer youth program that runs on weekdays throughout the season,” said City Manager Brian Maxwell. “This program is a tremendous asset to working families who might otherwise spend hundreds or even thousands on summer childcare.”

The program operates on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In partnership with the Galveston Independent School District, the program also provides free breakfast and lunch to all participating children each day. Children are separated by different age groups and activities throughout the day.
