The Texas City Police Department is inviting neighborhoods across Texas City to participate in National Night Out on Tuesday, October 6.
Residents can organize a block party, cookout or another neighborhood activity as part of the annual event. Gatherings can be simple or elaborate, depending on what each community would like to host.
Officers from the Texas City Police Department will visit registered neighborhood events throughout the evening, giving residents an opportunity to meet the first responders who serve their communities.
National Night Out began in 1984 and is designed to help neighbors get to know one another and become more familiar with their surroundings in a fun, relaxed setting. The program also focuses on strengthening relationships between residents and law enforcement.
The event gives residents a chance to connect with officers outside of their usual calls for service. For officers, it provides an opportunity to meet community members and build relationships in a neighborhood setting.
Residents interested in hosting a National Night Out event are encouraged to register their neighborhood with the City of Texas City. For more information, contact the Texas City Police Department’s Public Relations Division at (409) 933-2126.
