The City of Galveston will host the first community workshop for its Comprehensive Plan update on Saturday, August 29, 2026, inviting residents, business owners, and community stakeholders to help shape the city’s future.

The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Abe and Annie Seibel Wing at Galveston College, located at 4015 Avenue Q.

Galveston’s Comprehensive Plan serves as the city’s long-range roadmap for growth, development, infrastructure, and resilience. The updated plan will establish a community-driven vision for the next decade and beyond while providing guidance for future policy decisions, land use, and development throughout the island.

During the workshop, attendees will learn about changes that have taken place since the city’s current Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2011. Participants will also have the opportunity to provide feedback, discuss priorities, and share ideas that will help guide the direction of Galveston’s future.

City officials encourage all community members to attend, regardless of their background or experience with planning initiatives. The workshop is designed to gather input from a broad cross-section of the community, ensuring the updated plan reflects the needs and goals of Galveston residents and businesses.

The event is family-friendly, with activities available for children so parents can participate in the planning discussions.

Residents interested in learning more about the Comprehensive Plan update, future public meetings, and project information can visit the city’s Comprehensive Plan website.
